The Valpo Chamber has been named a finalist for the 2018 Chamber of the Year award, presented by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), an Alexandria, Va.-based association that represents more than 8,000 chamber of commerce professionals and 1,300 chambers of commerce around the world. This award is the most prestigious and competitive recognition presented annually by the ACCE.
“The Valpo Chamber will be competing against the Des Moines, Iowa Chamber for the top prize of Best Chamber. This award is determined by a three-step evaluation. Chamber applicants had to first submit operational information to be judged by a committee and determined if they were eligible to fill out an extensive second application with details of two areas that separated the Valpo Chamber from other chambers in excellence. After the second submittal, the Valpo Chamber was selected as one of two finalists in its class. The third and final step is a personal interview by the selection committee at the national convention” explained Rex Richards, President of the Valpo Chamber.
The Chamber of the Year award recognizes the leadership role chambers have in their communities. Those honored with the Chamber of the Year designation have demonstrated organizational strength and made an impact on key community priorities, such as education, transportation, business development and quality of life.
In addition, the ACCE has named the Valpo Chamber as one of 13 Communications Excellence Grand Award winners for its monthly video newsletters. Judges awarded 13 Grand Awards out of more than 150 submitted entries in 2018.
“The Competition for the Communications award was done by a committee and the 13 Grand Award winners were selected after review of all submittals. The three best in show will be selected by the evaluation committee and announced at the national convention. The 13 Grand Award Communication winners who will be judged for the Best in Show include:
Champaign, Illinois Chamber; Salt Lake, Utah Chamber; Springfield, Missouri Chamber; Irving –Las Colinas, Texas Chamber: Greater Kansas City, Missouri Chamber; Little Rock, Arkansas Chamber; Wilmington, NC Chamber; Valparaiso, Indiana Chamber; Indianapolis, Indiana Chamber, Round Rock Texas, Chamber, Charleston S.C., Chamber, Fort Collins, Colorado Chamber and Galveston, Texas Chamber” stated Richards.
“This national recognition is a testament to the many volunteers and the Board of Directors who have actively worked through the years to help build the Valpo Chamber into a world class organization. The Valpo Chamber has an outstanding staff that works day in and day out to deliver strong and meaningful programs to the business community. I applaud them all for their hard work and commitment to our mission”, stated Richards.
